Daikin Also Aiming for Efficient and Natural Refrigeration

Among the novelties seen at Chillventa we must certainly include the Daikin stand in Hall 7. Not so much for its size or particular aesthetic solutions, but precisely for its positioning: close to other global producers of commercial refrigeration.

Until not long ago, Daikin’s name was essentially linked to the residential and HVAC sector. But now the Company's presence is also in the refrigeration solutions sector, in particular for retail. "Daikin entered the world of commercial refrigeration about 5 years ago, introduced by some acquisitions made at that time”, explains Olivier Lagrabette, Senior Manager Refrigeration Daikin Europe N.V. “Now it wants to establish itself in this sector and the idea is to become an important player at a global level".

Daikin's refrigeration segment is headquartered in Brussels and from there unravels all over the world for a total value of approximately €700 million. “This fair is the first occasion in which Daikin presents itself with a stand entirely linked to refrigeration and with this we want to send a very strong message to the sector: Refrigeration is now also called Daikin. And not only in food retail, although it is one of the largest areas, but also in HO.RE.CA, in food processing, in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, and throughout the supply chain, including transport”.

Daikin Europe's stand in Chillventa had a name that was also a vision: “Future sustainable city”. For the first time ever, the Company presented its range of integrated solutions for the food processing, storage, food retail, HO.RE.CA and pharmaceutical sectors.

Two new products were presented, based on natural refrigerants, which meet the rigorous standards of energy efficiency, low noise and minimum total cost of ownership (TCO):

  • Daikin Monoblock of the future: An ideal commercial refrigeration solution for limited spaces, based on R290 (propane), which meets the demands of the industry for natural and energy efficient refrigeration solutions. With an extremely low GWP, the natural refrigerant R290 has no ozone depleting potential, while Daikin's innovative inverter technology makes the Monoblock of the future highly energy efficient, works with a low noise and has a low total cost of ownership thanks to the fact that it is easy to retrofit, easy to install and easy to access for maintenance. Thanks to the compact design, the units can also be mounted on the ceiling and are equipped with an innovative remote monitoring system with a dedicated App and cloud services for greater ease of use.
  • Daikin CO2 ZEAS units: A new range of condensing units for refrigeration, compact and highly efficient, based on CO2 natural refrigerant, which combine performance with reduced impact, low energy management costs and low noise. Available from 8 to 12 HP and a 15HP model, they provide energy-efficient natural refrigerant cooling to showcases and evaporators from -40°C to + 5°C. The high energy efficiency is due to Daikin's two-stage technology which guarantees a lower compression ratio at each stage, lower energy consumption, a lower discharge temperature, less stress on the compressor and a longer life.
