Danfoss partnered with Ohmia Retail International AS and established a joint venture in Sweden called Ohmia Retail Sweden AB to complement its current offering to food retail customers in Sweden.

Together, Danfoss and Ohmia Retail will offer the grocery retail market privileged access to the latest and most energy-efficient refrigeration systems and optimized operations. By offering a monthly subscription-based service, the company will avoid high upfront costs for customers and will include a performance guarantee that covers energy consumption, operational reliability and operating costs.

Ohmia Retail has achieved tremendous success in the Norwegian market with its solutions. Now, with this new joint venture, Ohmia Retail and Danfoss will scale these solutions and make the benefits available to customers across Northern Europe.

Thanks to "Refrigeration as a Service" customers enjoy a complete turnkey solution that covers the entire life cycle of refrigeration equipment, including "worry-free" maintenance to ensure continued reliability. Since it avoids high upfront costs, this type of service allows supermarkets to switch more quickly to more energy-efficient technology and natural refrigerants, reducing contributions to climate change.

Ohmia Retail's team will manage the program's operations, including store design, energy consulting / engineering, and project management. Danfoss will be a minority shareholder in the joint venture and will supply components for refrigeration (through OEMs and established contractors), loT connectivity and Danfoss Alsense™ Platform, the software for monitoring the energy use of supermarkets.

Alsense™ provides insights and advice backed by real-time data, helping supermarket managers to optimize their refrigeration, HVAC and other resources more efficiently and reduce their expenses related to energy costs and food waste.

Ohmia Retail Sweden AB is headquartered in central Stockholm and has been fully operational since 1 March 2022.
