Europe: Cold Chain Services are Essential to Cope with the COVID-19 Crisis

In an open letter, the President of the AREA Association Marco Buoni invites the European national heads of state and government to allow refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump technicians to meet the essential needs of European citizens, in particular regarding nutrition and healthcare.

This specifically means:

  • Recognizing the essential characteristics of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump contractors
  • Allowing the cross-border movement of agents in reasonable health and safety conditions
  • Preserving the flow of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and parts

The full text of the letter can be found here

Previously also many other associations related in some way to the cold sector - ADC3R, ASERCOM, EHI, EHPA and EPEE, ECSLA and Transfrigoroute International, in a joint letter had invited EU governments to define heating and cooling services and production sites critical during the current healthcare crisis.
