Trane®, a leading global provider of environmental comfort solutions and services and a brand of Trane Technologies, has announced the new updated range of Sintesis™ Advantage air-water heat pumps, which meets the demand for environmentally friendly solutions for seasonal heating and cooling applications.

Thanks to the energy coming from the ambient air, with zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the new Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF air-water heat pumps offer an answer to the heating needs of traditionally high environmental impact environments, based on energy renewable and are suitable for replacing boilers running on fossil fuels for air conditioning applications.

The new Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF heat pumps offer industry-leading operating ranges and deliver water at higher temperatures, with cooler outside air than previous models. The new models have been optimized for part load applications and guarantee an improved coefficient of performance (COP) of up to 10%, together with an increase in the seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of up to 15%, with the same size and weight as the previous models.

For room cooling needs, the new Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF heat pumps can be combined with an integrated heat recovery system, allowing users to reuse "free heat" in low thermal load applications, such as swimming pool heating, post-heating with dehumidification and many others, while ensuring the air conditioning of the spaces.

The new Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF heat pumps extend the operating fields and respond to the demand expressed by owners and tenants for renewable energy-based heating and cooling systems that are efficient, reliable and flexible even at low ambient temperatures.

The new Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF heat pumps have been redesigned to extend the geographic application of this renewable energy-based solution and provide:

  • For low-temperature heating applications in residential spaces, where the leaving water temperature normally needs to be 35°C, the Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF heat pump is capable of delivering hot water up to 40°C even with an ambient temperature of -18°C.
  • For boiler applications, normally combined with radiators that require hot water at 50°C on average, the Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF heat pump can easily meet the load demand with an ambient temperature of -10°C or lower , ensuring owners a renewable-based alternative to fossil fuel-fired boilers.

In the summer, in the absence of cooling demand, the Sintesis™ Advantage CXAF heat pump can be used instead of fossil fuel-fired boilers to produce domestic hot water, with a leaving water temperature of 65°C in presence of ambient temperatures from 15 to 35°C.

The new units will shortly be available with R-454B low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant and will be part of Trane Technologies' EcoWise™ range. The exclusive range of EcoWise™ products includes HVAC and refrigeration systems and products, as well as initiatives designed to reduce the environmental impact of Trane Technologies products, the company itself and its customers.

The innovation represented by Trane Sintesis™ Advantage heat pumps is in line with Trane Technologies’ sustainability goals for 2030 and with the commitment to reduce its customers' carbon dioxide emissions by one gigatone, the equivalent of annual emissions of Italy, France and the UK combined.
